Innova Evo Canned Cat & Kitten Food

EVO Cat and Kitten Canned Food contains all of the natural nutrition and benefits of EVO Cat and Kitten Dry Food in the convenience of a can. To bridge the gap between what was once the ideal diet in the wild, and what science defines as an optimal nutritional profile, Natura Pet Products has developed the ideal ancestral diet: EVO. EVO Cat and Kitten Canned Food is based on ground chicken and turkey meat, bones, fat, cartilage and connective tissue. It includes whole, raw fruits and vegetables which contain health promoting phytochemicals and micronutrients. Hi-Protein, Low Carbs and Grain Free. If you like the idea of feeding raw, but prefer a gently cooked food that provides benefits that match raw, frozen or home prepared high-meat pet diets, EVO is the answer. EVO is the first grain-free ancestral diet that provides the benefits of modern nutrition in a safe, convenient and cost-effective natural food. Use EVO alone, or as a supplement to your raw or home cooked pet food for a completed and balanced natural feeding. EVO is an alternative for raw feeders and home-cookers. Turkey Turkey is the clean combination of flesh and skin with or without accompanying bone, derived from the parts or whole carcasses of turkey or a combination of thereof - exclusive of feathers, heads, feet, and entrails. Turkey is an excellent source of highly digestible protein. Natura uses table-quality turkey in many of our formulations. The turkey Natura uses is not only human-grade, but also tested to be free of hormones, antibiotics and pesticides, as well as chemical preservatives such as BHA, BHT and ethoxyquin. This is an important distinction because manufacturers are not required to list substances that are present in the ingredients when they go into the pet food. Chicken Chicken is the clean combination of flesh and skin with or without accompanying bone, derived from the parts or whole carcasses of chicken - exclusive of feathers, heads, feet, and entrails. Chicken is an excellent source of protein. The chicken Natura uses is not only human-grade, but also tested to be free of hormones, antibiotics and pesticides, as well as chemical preservatives such as BHA, BHT and ethoxyquin. Natura does not add these harmful ingredients, and they are not present in the ingredients we use. This is an important distinction, because manufacturers are not required to list substances that are present in the ingredients when they go into the pet food. Turkey Broth Turkey broth is obtained by cooking turkey bones, parts, and/or muscle tissue. Turkey broth adds moisture and flavor to canned foods and is a good source of fat and protein. Natura uses chicken broth in our canned foods to add moisture and flavor. It is also an excellent source of protein and contains less fat than turkey broth. Chicken Broth Chicken broth is obtained by cooking chicken, including bones and/or muscle, much the same process as making a stock. There is currently no specific definition by AAFCO for chicken broth. Because Natura uses such high quality chicken, this is a high-quality source of fat and protein. Chicken broth adds moisture while enhancing the protein level and palatability of the food, rather than diluting them. Chicken Meal Chicken meal is the dry rendered (cooked down) product from a combination of clean flesh and skin with or without accompanying bone, derived from the parts of whole carcasses of chicken -- exclusive of feathers, heads, feet, or entrails. Chicken meal is considered to be the single best source of protein in commercial pet foods. Natura uses high-quality, low ash chicken meal extensively. This ingredient is very digestible, very palatable, and very expensive. Herring Herring is the clean tissue of undecomposed whole herring or herring cuttings, either or both, with or without the extraction of part of the oils. Herring is an excellent single-source protein. It is also an excellent source of Omega 3 essential fatty acids. Natura uses whole, table quality herring, which are ground and added to the ingredient mix. Carrots Carrots are the roots of the carrot plant, and a member of the parsley family. Innova dog and cat foods contain whole steamed, carrots which are free of pesticides. When ingredients are fresh and not pre-processed, they retain the flavors and important nutrients (including 'protector' antioxidants) of the foods you serve at your own table. Natura uses only fresh, whole fruits and vegetables in our foods. Whole Eggs Whole eggs are the whole of the reproductive body produced by hens, with the shell removed. Eggs are an excellent source of protein with naturally occurring complex combinations of amino acids. Natura uses only USDA, table-quality whole eggs in our formulas. Salmon Meal Salmon fishmeal is the clean, rendered, dried ground tissue of undecomposed salmon or salmon cuttings, either or both, with or without the extraction of part of the oil. Salmon fishmeal is a good source of essential fatty acids and is a palatable ingredient for cats. Natura, however, uses whole, table-quality salmon in our cat food which is free of artificial preservatives and by-products. Natural Flavors Natural flavors are minimally processed flavor ingredients that do not contain synthetic or artificial components. In the Natura products that include "natural flavor" in the formula, the exact composition is proprietary. However, the ingredient does comply with the FDA CFR which regulates this definition, and is always made from the same animal species on which the formula is based. For example, the "natural flavor" used in the original EVO formula contains a reduction of chicken meat - much the same process as is employed to create a chicken stock in your home kitchen. Guar Gum Guar gum is derived from the ground endosperm of the guar plant. It is a gelatinous substance from the legume family that contains protein and polysaccharides. There is currently no official AAFCO definition for guar gum but is considered GRAS (generally recognized as safe). Guar gum is used as an emulsifier, thickener, and stabilizer in foods. Several studies have found significant decreases in cholesterol levels after administration of guar gum in humans. These decreases are thought to be a function of the high soluble fiber content of guar. Guar gum is highly digestible and has a low caloric content. Seaweed Extract Seaweed is the name commonly used for various types of marine algae. There is currently no official AAFCO definition for seaweed extract. Nutritionally, seaweeds compare to vegetables with all or more of the phytochemicals, vitamins and minerals. Seaweed is used mainly as a source of iodine, a trace mineral required to sustain life. It impacts cell respiration, metabolism of energy, and nutrients, functioning of nerves and muscles, differentiation of the fetus, growth and repair of tissues, and the condition of skin, hair, teeth, and nails. Apples A member of the rose family, the apple has a compartmented core and is thus classified as a pome fruit. Apples are an excellent source of dietary fiber. About 81% of the fiber is soluble; most of it is of a type called pectin. Apples provide both soluble and insoluble fiber, some vitamin C and beta carotene, and potassium and boron. Natura uses this nutritious fruit in its whole form to obtain all of its wholesome nutrients. Tomato Flakes Tomatoes are the edible berry of the tomato plant, of the nightshade family. Tomato Flakes are dehydrated and diced tomatoes. Tomatoes are very high in natural vitamin C, Vitamin A, Beta-carotene and lycopene, an anti-oxidant. See also "Tomato" Cottage Cheese Cottage cheese is the result of separating milk or cream into curds and whey. The curds are drained and pressed to form the soft, white, spoonable cheese. Cottage cheese is an excellent source of calcium, phosphorus, protein and vitamins. Natura uses table-quality cottage cheese, straight from its retail container. The cottage cheese has only trace amounts of lactose and because of its limited inclusion in the formula, the ultimate amount of lactose in the finished product is insignificant and would not be in sufficient supply to cause an intolerance problem. Herring Oil Herring oil is the oil extracted from whole herring. Herring oil provides a rich source of Omega 3 essential fatty acids. Because the herring that Natura uses is of such high quality, the herring oil helps produce healthy skin and lustrous coats. Potassium Chloride A chemical compound, KCl, a colorless or white, cubic, crystalline compound that closely resembles common salt (sodium chloride). It is soluble in water, alcohol, and alkalies. Potassium plays various roles in metabolism and body functions. It assists in the regulation of the acid-base balance and water balance in the blood and the body tissue. It assists in protein synthesis from amino acids and in carbohydrate metabolism. Sodium Phosphate Phosphorus is a naturally occurring substance that is important in every cell in the body. The majority of phosphorus in the body is found in the bones. The potassium and sodium salt forms of phosphorus are called phosphates. Sodium phosphate is used to acidify the urine and lower the urinary calcium concentration. This may reduce rash and odor caused by ammonium in the urine. Sodium phosphate is also used as a phosphorus supplement to prevent and/or treat a phosphorus deficiency. Inulin A relatively new highly fermentable fiber, Inulin has not only become widely recognized as a superior prebiotic fiber source, it has also been clinically proven to increase calcium absorption. Derived from chicory roots, Inulin becomes a specific foodstuff for the beneficial bacteria found in the intestinal tract. Benefits from this include firmer stools, reduced risk of colitis and cancers, improvement in glucose and blood lipid metabolism, reduction in gas production (flatulence) and a reduction in fecal odor. A tasteless white polysaccharide found especially dissolved in the sap of the roots and rhizomes of composite plants. Vitamin C Vitamin C is a water-soluble, carbohydrate-like substance that is involved in certain of the metabolic processes of animals. Vitamin C is an antioxidant that functions in the formation of intracellular substances of the teeth, bone and soft tissue. It fights bacterial infections and reduces the affects of allergy-producing substances. Vitamin C neutralizes free radicals, helps keep the teeth and bones strong, enhances the immune system and helps produce certain hormones. Sea Salt Sea salt, also know as solar salt, is a natural mineral necessary for life and good health. Even though regular salt (mined) and sea salt (solar) come from different places, by the time they make it onto the market, they are practically identical in every way, including nutritional value. Choline Chloride Choline chloride is a member of the B-complex group of water-soluble vitamins (vitamin B-4). It is used as an animal feed additive, especially for poultry and swine, to increase growth, reduce mortality rate, increase feed efficiency, increase egg production, and improve meat quality. It is not a substitute for any other feed supplement and has no direct substitutes itself. Sunflower Oil Sunflower oil is obtained by extracting oil from sunflower seeds. Sunflower oil has a high concentration of linoleic acid (73%), which is important for good skin and coat health. Natura uses sunflower oil that has been cold-pressed and protected from exposure to heat and light. This very high quality, very palatable fat is used in California Natural and Innova formulations. Beta Carotene Beta carotene is a carotenoid that produces Vitamin A. Although several different carotenoids are capable of providing vitamin A, Beta Carotene is the most plentiful in foods and has the highest biological activity. Animal products do not contain carotenoids but can provide active vitamin A when included in the diet. Milk, liver, egg yolk, and carrots contain high amounts of Beta Carotene. Both dogs and cats readily absorb Beta Carotene, and studies have shown this carotenoid may have a function in cell-mediated and body immune responses in these species. Vitamins/Minerals Vitamins are organic compounds that function as parts of enzyme systems essential for the transmission of energy and the regulation of metabolisms of the body. Minerals are inorganic substances essential for a host of vital processes within the body. AAFCO regulates minimum standard quantities of vitamins and minerals in levels that pets need to survive. All pet food manufacturers supplement their products with vitamins and minerals. Beyond meeting these minimum requirements, all Natura products contain a complete vitamin and mineral supplement program that helps pets to thrive, not just survive. The minerals Natura uses are chelated, providing three to ten times greater assimilation than common minerals. Our Innova products also contain beneficial probiotic supplements, which are not required by the AAFCO minimums. Included in our foods are some of the following: Ascorbic Acid, Beta Carotene, Biotin, Calcium Carbonate, Calcium Iodate, Choline Chloride, Cobalt Carbonate, Cobalt Proteinate, Copper Proteinate, d-Calcium Pantothenate, Dicalcium Pantothenate, dl-Methionine, Folic Acid, Iron Proteinate, Manganese Proteinate, Niacin, Potassium Chloride, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Riboflavin, Thiamine Mononitrate, Vitamin A Supplement, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Vitamin C Supplement (Sodium Ascorbate), Vitamin D3 Supplement, Vitamin E Supplement (Alpha Tocopherol), Zinc Proteinate Natura adds these important vitamins and minerals, in proper balance to its foods to ensure that your pet gets all the necessary nutrients for life and good health every day.
